📖 Comprehensive Study Notes Summary
### Plant Reproductive Biology
#### Double Fertilization in Angiosperms
Following pollination, the pollen grain germinates on the stigma, producing a pollen tube guided down the style by chemical signals (chemotropism) to the ovule micropyle.
1. **First Male Gamete (n)** fuses with the **Egg Cell (n)** -> forms **Diploid Zygote (2n)** (develops into plant embryo).
2. **Second Male Gamete (n)** fuses with the **Diploid Definitive Polar Nuclei (2n)** -> forms **Triploid Endosperm (3n)** (food storage tissue).
#### Fate of Flower Parts after Fertilization
- Ovule -> Seed
- Ovary -> Fruit
- Ovary Wall -> Pericarp
- Integuments -> Testa (seed coat)
- Petals, Sepals, Stamens -> Wither and fall off.
